At the edge of Den Helder, on the dike, lies the old village of Huisduinen, where one of the oldest and most beautiful lighthouses in the Netherlands still stands. After a lovely walk along the old fort Kijkduin and the dike, you will reach the Huisduinen beach entrance. This is the northernmost beach entrance on the mainland of the Netherlands. Here, you will find a quiet family beach with a beach pavilion.

Parking in Huisduinen is free for an unlimited time. You can park at the top of the dike at Fort Kijkduin (limited spaces) or in the lower area at Mesdagstraat (under the gate).
he beach is most easily accessible by bicycle, where you can find ample bicycle parking. From the bicycle parking area, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the beach.
During the summer season, the Coast Bus (851) runs from the Den Helder train station to this beach entrance, with a bus stop at Fort Kijkduin. It’s a 10-minute walk to the beach from this stop.
The access road to the beach is completely paved but goes over a fairly steep slope along the promenade, making the beach poorly accessible for people with disabilities. In the municipality of Den Helder, the beach entrances Duinoord, Zandloper, and Julianadorp have special facilities for disabled visitors, making these beach entrances more accessible for people with disabilities.
